I'd do the whole sarcasm/tsundere bit here, but no. This is entirely because :iconultraguy9000: and :iconmegamario2001: did this. And now, in no particular order, it's time to get my ideas out there.

For the record, this is also kind of a series of recommendations. Some of these ideas are directed towards ScrewAttack and what I would like to see them do, and there will also be included an explanation of why they might do it and why they might not. But if you want to do these, I ain't stopping you.

Whether SA does these or one of you writer folk does, I hope you like some of these. And I very much expect you to cringe at some others. Let's go.

--- --- --- --- ---

Ryuko VS Shadow SA Variant! by PokeSEGA64
#1: Ryuko Matoi VS Shadow the Hedgehog
Titlecard contains art from :iconiorlvm:

Connections: Literally everything. Even aside from the red-and-black look and the 'edgy rebel' personality, they both have an origin related to alien breeding, mad scientists and being cast away early in life. They were created to be the 'ultimate something-or-other' and to save the world from the 'alien something-or-other.' They fought for the sake of revenge for their loved one (singular). They're rivals of local heroes. As far as the main heroes go, they're probably the most powerful users of series macguffins. They have practically identical super forms and 'final boss fights.' I could keep going, really. Some of these connections are kinda loose, but big or small, there's a lot of them, and when put together, the similarities are pretty uncanny.

Why I like it: These are two of my favorite fictional characters. Even if you're not as fond of DEATH BATTLE as some others might be, I think most fight-writers have a fight that they would fantasize about becoming 'official.' This is mine. It's still probably the fight I've put the most effort into, and I'd like to see what anyone else could bring to the table. It could be better, it could be worse, but either way, Shadow has had the potential creativity of his moveset and arsenal shafted in favor of getting the 'silly' treatment. Twice. I just want to see him get some justice! And in Ryuko's case, Shadow is definitely her best potential opponent.

Why SA might not do it: Shadow has been used twice now. And both times made for some pretty lackluster episodes. I think a third use of him would be met with nothing but groans. If they were to do this fight, it would probably be as a DBX.

Prediction for the winner: I want to say Shadow. I did a fight betwen these two, and I stand by most of what I said there. But I don't know. Apparently people have sited multi-continent level Ryuko as a thing, which... Not sure how legit that is. Even if it is, arsenal, hax and relatively equal speed might still net Shadow the win. Might. I dunno. I'm kind of an idiot.

Thor VS Shazam! by PokeSEGA64
#2: Thor VS Shazam

Connections: "FEEL HEAVEN'S WRATH! THUNDER AND LIGHTNING!"
For real, though, yeah, thunder and lightning. They're both superheroes, and their powers were granted to them by the almighty GODS! Gods of ancient myth, too. So hey, Norse myth VS Greek myth. Nothing not to like.

Why I like it: Honestly, not even the fight itself. I just wanna see Shazam. Shazam is cool. But there aren't really a lot of requested opponents for him. To my knowledge, Thor is the only one of note. And all-in-all, it's a good fight, so why not?

Why SA might not do it: I don't think there's anything preventing them from doing it, but Shazam is not one of the more talked about DC superheroes. They've done more obscure characters before, sure, but only with obscure ideas. This is not that. Plus I recall Ben saying that he liked Thor VS Wonder Woman. That's cool too, but... Eh. Shazam tho.

Prediction for the winner: If I'm not mistaken they're both 'relatively equal,' and I believe that they both have some interesting hax, but I think Thor has a bit more, and has some smaller stuff like combat experience and whatnot. Plus, while the scenario is unlikely, Shazam has a glaring weakness in the potential to turn into Billy Batson. I think I would give it to Thor, but don't quote me. I know too little to draw a conclusion.

Touma Kamijou VS Izuku Midoriya! by PokeSEGA64
#3: Touma Kamijou VS Izuku Midoriya

Connections: It's kinda loose, but it goes something like this: Both series have similar world in that superhuman abilities are the norm in their society. In those worlds, these two are just like any normal guy. Just another weakling with no powers. At least that's what you would think. But it turns out that, at some point, they gained possibly the greatest powers their worlds have to offer. Also they're school students. Yeah.

Why I like it: This would be my 'unconventional' match idea. I love both these series, and this idea just came to me one day. I'd really like to see these series get represented, and how better than with the main characters? And my favorite characters. How 'bout that? And hey, Ben likes My Hero Academia, so we could see Izuku at some point. That said...

Why SA might not do it: If you've kept up with the anime/manga scene, you'd know that My Hero Academia is hot shit right now. It's basically anime's newest 'face.' I have no doubt that there series will be represented at some point (Well, assuming that DEATH BATTLE is going for much longer. You never know). And being the mascot, I think it's scientifically possible to prove that everyone knows who Izuku is.
*tongue click* To the two people in the audience who know about the To Aru series, you may be able to sympathize with what I'm getting at here.
To Aru is still a semi-obscure series. I don't see anyone talk about it. I would bet money that most if not all of the SA crew haven't heard of it, either. Beyond that, Touma doesn't have one of the more creative move sets in his verse, and I don't think he's even the most popular character in his series (Well, neither is Izuku, but he's at least the second most popular). If Touma's series does get representation - and that's a BIIIIIIIG 'if' - Touma may not even be the one to do it.
As a side, if you like My Hero Academia, I can't guarantee that you'll like the To Aru series. In fact depending on the... Type of person you are, I'd bet you would really dislike it.

Prediction for the winner: Hard for me to say. I don't know in the slightest where they stand in terms of power. Spitballing it, though, I can't imagine that their physical abilities are too far apart. And honestly, I might give it to Touma, as his Imagine Breaker could negate One For All. It's negated some pretty impressive stuff, and 'quirks' in My Hero Academia are not dissimilar to 'esper abilities' in To Aru.

Alex Mercer VS Cole MacGrath! by PokeSEGA64
#4: Alex Mercer VS Cole MacGrath

Connections: Well, they're both the stars of open-world sandbox games, and they got their 'horrific-but-incredible' powers through some deadly accident (deadly in one way or another). I think that's about it, honestly, but around when they came out, the games achieved a sort of rivalry. And thus this fight became log requested.

Why I like it: Both have some widely varied arsenals, there's a 'close-range vs long-range' debate there, and both are from sandbox games. I imagine some cool stuff being done with the battlefield. But beyond that, I just love inFAMOUS. Having Cole in would be awesome.

Why SA might not do it: Technically there's nothing stopping them, and there is a rivalry there. But, uh... Well, these two series haven't seen the spotlight in recent history (especially Prototype). This rivalry may be kind of niche.

Prediction for the winner: From what I understand, Cole wins. Mainly due to arsenal, possessing powers that Alex doesn't have any special resistances to, an apparent DC advantage via damaging The Beast and Alex's 'nuke tanking feat' not actually being a nuke tanking feat.

Thanos VS Goku Black! Alt. by PokeSEGA64
#5: Thanos VS Goku Black
Titlecard contains art from :iconmundokk: and :iconrmehedi:

Connections: Both are, in one way or another, Godlike beings with Godlike superiority complexes. They view themselves above most, and their ultimate goal is mass genocide of literally everything. And hey, they came pretty damn close to achieving that goal. But they want it for different reasons, and given their clashing endgames, they may end up hating each other.

Why I like it: Honestly, Goku Black is one of Thanos' more thematic opponents. Not on the same level as someone like Darkseid, but I like this one a bit more simply because it's much more of a fair fight.

Why SA might not do it: Thanos VS Darkseid is a thing. There not gonna do this one.

Prediction for the winner: I'm inclined to give it to Thanos. If I recall both are in the power range of galaxy-to-universal, MFTL, but Thanos has some pretty insane hax and tech, and I think he's a lot smarter.

Thanos VS Darkseid SA Variant! by PokeSEGA64
#6: Thanos VS Darkseid
Connections: Titans of Godlike power that tend to stand up to the cosmics of their respective verses, all the while slapping the shit out of their most powerful heroes. These two are basically Marvel and DC counterparts.

Why I like it: While I will never get Thanos VS Goku Black, I'm not oppose to this. And it's gonna happen anyway. It's freaking Thanos VS Darkseid. Their sheer presence demands hype.

Why SA might not do it: They're gonna freaking do this one. Don't know where. Don't know when. But they will.

Prediction for the winner: I would think that they wouldn't go any higher than there standard stuff, as oppose to some of their more powerful temporary equipment. With that in mind, Darkseid is simply too powerful for Thanos to beat.

Ragna VS Ruby Rose SA Variant! by PokeSEGA64
#7: Ragna the Bloodedge VS Ruby Rose
Titlecard contains art from :icondishwasher1910:

Connections: They are red and black clad travelling warrior protagonists wielding some scythe that transforms into another weapon, and also possessing some body-part-related macguffin. It's loose, yes, but...

Why I like it: This is a dumb idea. I'm not gonna pretend that's not the case. The connection's between the two combatants themselves are pretty loose and there's... Another reason... But this idea puts an evil grin on my face.
There are more similarities between BlazBlue and RWBY. Similarities that I've made a hobby of making fun of, actually. On their own they're small similarities, yes, but they're numerous. And they exist not just between characters designs, but between character backstories and even the lore and world of each series. These small similarities start to stack up. I'm not saying that RWBY ripped off BlazBlue or anything, but I think it's pretty clear that some inspiration was involved (I've heard that Monty "God rest his soul" Oum actually did play BlazBlue, so there's that).
With that in mind, this just made me actually want a crossover between BlazBlue and RWBY, and... Well, now there's actually one happening. So a battle between its two main characters feels all too fitting.

Why SA might not do it: The last time SA dabbled in BlazBlue was... Well, with Ragna. And it was kind of a disaster. Given how they treated the series (and how they know they treated the series; they've stated publicly the pain the research brought them), I doubt they would want to return to BlazBlue, much less a character they've used before.
As for Ruby, though, it's basically guaranteed that she's fight Maka Albarn from Soul Eater at some point. Which I admit is kind of a better idea. This one is just a guilty pleasure/pipe dream.

Prediction for the winner: Ruby dies. Like, holy shit, Ruby dies a lot. I don't really have a grasp of where Ragna's power is most of the series, but Town Level bare minimum, Planet Level maximum (I like to think he's around there). And that's not even counting his endgame bullshit, which would put him so much higher. Plus the Azure Grimoire proves a hilarious advantage over Ruby. I don't see her winning this one.

Last Dragonborn VS Chosen Undead! by PokeSEGA64
#8: Last Dragonborn VS Chosen Undead

Connections: Customizable player-insert protagonists of modern fantasy action-RPGs, they began their adventures in a cage, before being freed, given a second chance and a destiny to save the world by destroying the mad God that would bring their world to ruin. They also gain their power through continuous soul-absorption.

Why I like it: I've been kind of interested in Dark Souls lately. I think there's an interesting lore and world to be had there, and I remember from an old ScrewAttack review that Sam (I think it was Sam) really likes the Souls series. So I found myself thinking "hey, one of the games protagonists might be an interesting DEATH BATTLE combatant." And the most popular request would seem to be this one. So yeah, make it happen.

Why SA might not do it: See Alex VS Cole. It's been a considerable amount of time since these games were released and had a 'rivalry' going, so it may be kind of niche.

Prediction for the winner: I haven't the faintest. Though I recall a while back there being a prediction blog for this, and the Chosen Undead was decidedly the winner. The guy who made it is someone I trust, too. But again, I really don't know.

Pit VS Sora! by PokeSEGA64
#9: Pit VS Sora

Connections: Optimistic and energetic teenage boys connected with the power of light to fend off the darkness that threatens their worlds.

Why I like it: Both their move sets can allow for a very flashy fight. The OMM of Link vs. Sora can attest to that. Honestly with all the magic spells and crazy flight and acrobatics they could bring, it would guarantee a badass fight in either Dimension. It allows for even greater enjoyment potential if you bring in the cast of Kid Icarus to interact with Pit.

Why SA might not do it: Honestly, I don't think there's an excuse. The closest you can get is the whole 'niche rivalry' thing again, but Kingdom Hearts III is gonna happen and that puts at least one of these franchises back in the spotlight.

Prediction for the winner: Yeah, uh, I've heard something about Sora having feats in the Star Level range? In which case, Rest In Pit.

Ghost Rider VS Lobo! by PokeSEGA64
#10: Ghost Rider VS Lobo

Connections: Marvel and DC's nigh unkillable metal-as-fuck bikers. Also they wield chains. Can't forget the chains.

Why I like it: I really want to see Ghost Rider in one of these fights. Who wouldn't? Ghost Rider's fucking awesome! He has some options for his opponents, but this one is probably the most fair. Well, definitely the most fair among his especially requested opponents. The only other big options are Scorpion and Spawn. Not a fan of either.

Why SA might not do it: Eh, no real reason, it's just not one of the 'super highly requested ones.' Honestly, Ghost Rider VS Spawn might be more highly requested. I'm not against that, but... Lobo.

Prediction for the winner: Due to the crazy hax both of these bikers have, their base forms make for quite a close fight. I couldn't tell you who would win, but only because I haven't really looked into it. On the other hand, Zarathos, from what I gather, fucking obliterates Lobo.
